How to Tape Your Boobs for Every Outfit

Fit Experts

If you’ve ever struggled to find the right bra to pair with an outfit—you’re not alone! Strapless, backless, and low-cut tops are notorious for causing bra drama. If you’ve tried every bra in your wardrobe and nothing is giving you that seamless, invisible finish, it’s time to call in the big guns: boob tape.

In this blog post, we’re taking a deep dive into the wonders of boob tape and how you can tape your boobs for every possible outfit (yes, even that top with all the cut-outs). If you’re curious about how boob tape works and how you can use this game-changing product for every outfit, keep on reading.

What is boob tape?

First, what exactly is boob tape? Boob tape is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a specially crafted tape designed to be stuck to your body strategically to hold your breasts in place in the absence of a bra. And it comes in handy more times than you may think.

In many cases, you won’t want your bra showing – especially if you’re wearing a backless, strapless, or low-cut dress or top. Boob tape is there to create the illusion of being braless while still giving you the lift, support, and security of your favourite bra. Essentially, it lets you keep your breasts lifted and in place without ruining your outfit by showing your bra underneath.

Prepping for boob tape

Ready to jump on the boob tape train? We’re excited for you! But before you jump straight in and start sticking, there are a few things to consider first.

If you have sensitive skin, do a patch test on your arm or chest beforehand. Even the Me by Bendon Adhesive Body Tape, which is latex-free and hypoallergenic, will require an initial skin test to ensure it won’t irritate the delicate skin around your breasts.

You’ll also want to make sure your skin is clean and dry for application, as this will allow the tape to stick. Avoid products such as lotion or body oil before boob tape application as they can mess with the adhesive, and you won’t get that strong hold you need to feel secure. No one wants to be let down by tape that doesn’t stick!

How to use boob tape

The beauty of boob tape is that it gives you endless bra options in one product. There is no one way to apply it, as the application will largely depend on the type of outfit you are wearing and it may take a bit of practice and adjustment to get it right the first time.

You want the taping to be secure, but you also don’t want it to peek above your clothing. Luckily, you can always cut away excess—so keep scissors nearby in case you need to trim and shape your tape. It’s worth noting that boob tape can be used in conjunction with other body tapes and adhesives, such as nipple covers or even adhesive silicone bras

Below, we will cover how to correctly apply boob tape for a variety of different tops and dresses, so you’ll never have bra drama again!

Boob tape for backless dresses

Are you dying to wear that gorgeous backless dress still hanging in your closet but don’t know how to? The answer is boob tape. For backless tops and dresses, you can create lift and support with boob tape, so it can be open and sexy in the back.

How to use boob tape for backless tops and dresses:

1. Cut strips of tape that are a bit longer than your chest, measuring from one side of your body to the other.

2. Starting from the underside of your breasts, begin taping horizontally from your side body, across your breasts and finishing as close to the opposite side body as you can get away with without the tape being visible.

3. Continue to work horizontal pieces of tape across your chest from side to side, lifting and supporting the breasts or pushing breasts together if desired.

4. Finish at a the top of your breasts, as high as you are comfortable, near the armpit area.

OPTIONAL: If you want cleavage, push your breasts together as you tape. For lift, you will want to push them upwards as you tape.

If you’d rather opt for an adhesive bra, that can work well too. The Me By Bendon Adhesive Silicone Bra is a great option as it is seamless and invisible underneath your clothing while providing support that lasts all night long.

Boob tape for strapless dresses

There are a few different techniques that can be used for strapless outfits. But if you know how to tape for a backless dress, then you know how to tape for a strapless dress. Simply scroll up and follow the steps above.

Although boob tape is a terrific option for strapless tops and dresses, it is not the only option! The right strapless bra can work wonders. Boob tape for V-necks and low-cut tops

Show a little bit of chest with a cheeky low-cut top and your handy dandy boob tape, of course.

1. Begin by holding your breasts in your desired position. For extra lift and cleavage, pull them up and together.

2. Get a long strip of tape and start by sticking one end of the tape strip slightly underneath the breast along the curve of the bustline, and taping up and over the breasts, ending towards your decolletage or collarbones.

3. The next strips can run vertically along the outside of the breast. You can push in slightly as you tape for extra cleavage.

OPTIONAL: Tape a piece vertically near the nipple and close to the breastbone to define your shape further.

Boob tape for triangle tops

Triangle tops – along with keyhole tops and cut-out tops – may be one of the trickiest tops to wear in terms of finding a no-show bra option. Although it may seem difficult to tackle at first glance, boob tape is totally capable of saving the day. With triangle tops, the goal is to create two individual cups using tape so that it resembles a “mermaid cup” (yes, we are picturing two seashells).

1. Begin by holding your breasts in your desired position. For extra lift and cleavage, pull them up and together.

2. Apply small horizontal pieces of tape from the bottom of your breast all the way toward the nipple.

3. Repeat the previous step on the other breast.

OPTIONAL: Pull tape slightly upwards and inwards for additional cleavage and lift.

As an alternative to boob tape, go completely au natural or opt for nipple covers. If you don’t need tons of support, this is a good option. You could also use the Me by Bendon Adhesive Multi Starter Pack, which gives you a few different options for adhesive nipple covers.

How to remove boob tape

You know the old saying, “just rip it off like a band-aid”? Well, that is definitely not the case here. Seriously, don’t try the rip-off method – it’s incredibly painful, and there are much easier ways to remove boob tape.

With boob tape, it pays to remove it slowly and gently. If done correctly, removing boob tape shouldn’t be a painful experience in the slightest.

A great place to remove the tape is in the shower, where the tape can be fully saturated, and it’s okay if you make a mess. If you need a little extra help, try using oil – body oil, coconut oil, or any other oil you have lying around – to break down the adhesive and help the tape lose its stick. That way, you can just peel it right off. You’ll want to completely saturate the tape in water or oil and let it soak for at least 15 minutes before slowly pulling it off.

Want the best boob tape for every outfit?

It may take a few tries before you can master boob tape, but once you do – it’s a total game-changer. Now that you know how to rock boob tape, you never have to stress over finding the right bra for your favourite backless, strapless, plunge, or cut-out outfits again.
